Jan Pattison D.A.
Landscape Painter

Jan Pattison is a fine arts graduate of Glasgow School of Art

Graduating from the painting school of the famous Glasgow School of Art in 1973, where she spent 4 years studying art, Jan had already made three painting visits to the Faroes, where she quickly developed a love of the unique atmosphere and scenery. Spending time living in Tórshavn at the home of Petra Toftum in Niels Finsens Gøta (pictured top left), Jan had the opportunity to experience Faroese culture directly and came to love the islands like a second home.

After graduating, Jan and her half Faroese husband Peter, created, in Scotland, a design based manufacturing business which won a Queen's Award for Enterprise, the UK's most prestigious business award. Having recently sold her business interests, and with her two arts oriented daughters grown up and away from home, Jan is now more free to pursue her passion for painting.

Having returned to the Faroes many times since, Jan and Peter bought a house in Eiši in 2005 where she now has a studio and can fulfil her dream of frequent visits to the Faroes working on her paintings and spending more time with family and friends.
